Frequently Asked Questions

We propose to have a Dublin Eurocon on the 22-24 Aug 2014 to position the convention one week after the proposed London Worldcon.

While we have not yet selected our convention site, we are in negotiations with several venues that would be able to host the full convention. All three of these venues are hotels, and would act as the main accommodation site as well, so everything should be under one roof.

All three of our proposed venues are served by direct public transport links costing around €7.

One venue is close to the Airport, and would probably cost approx €10 for a taxi.
The others are further away and would likely cost between €25 and €30.

As we have not made final site selection, we can not give figures for this at this time. It is our intention to have sourced alternative, and cheaper accommodation where possible.

Dublin also has various hostels, that would be a single bus journey away from the eventual convention location. These would be considerably cheaper than any hotel.

All of the locations under consideration are close to the city centre, and are well served by public transport.

Over 30 airlines fly into Dublin Airport from many different cities, though many long haul destinations do require a change.

Dublin also has pre-clearance for flights to the US. This means that you would not need to clear customs on arrival in the US.
